Tonight, Why Don't You ...

Watch Candidly Nicole

A little over a year ago, I mentioned how much I was loving Candidly Nicole on AOL.com. I feel like the reality show gods answered my prayers and have made this hilarious web series into a a real show. Instead of 5 minutes of hilarious one liners, we now get a whole half hour. Candidly Nicole on VH1 premiers tonight. Below you can find a little sneak peak and if you missed out on the AOL series you can still watch those episodes here.

Happy watching!

Weekend Recap

Does anyone else feel like summer weekends are that much shorter than winter ones? I swear they are gone in a blink of an eye. This weekend was no different. Friday included a big hair chop cut and Zach Brown Band at Fenway. On Saturday, my best friend came to town, Brazil and Columbia won,  and I finally made it to Toro. Sunday was all about basking in the sun. And just like that we're back to Monday!

Of course, weekends are for proper breakfasts.

Swan Boats.

I would never post this normally,
but I was over the moon with a reason to wear my red cowboy boots!

Toro.
(post to come)

Relaxing after a little bocce in the Commons.

Matilda Moment ... What Remains

When I was younger I went through a Matilda phase. I would carry a book with me everywhere. While my parents were super proud that I was becoming a little bookworm, they were appalled when I would try to read at restaurants (that's a no no in terms of manners). Nonetheless, they allowed me to buy every book in sight if I promised to read at appropriate times. Even now I have a very hard time walking into a bookstore and not grabbing at least three books at a time to buy. Thank god for Kindle. As my first Matilda Moment share, inspired by my recent trip to the JFK Library and Museum, I have chosen What Remains: A Memoir of Fate, Friendship, and Love by Carole Radziwill. You may recognize the author's name but a fluffy reality tv read this is not. This memoir is a beautifully written story of a woman who came from humble roots, created a successful career, and married a man who happened to be a prince. It has all the makings of a fairy tale but is punctuated with great tragedy. It's exciting and extremely heartfelt, and if you're like me, will reduce you to tears.

Style ... Paper Dresses

I know what you're thinking, "uh, paper dresses?"No, I promise I have not gone crazy and yes, this is real. If you're like me, you probably had a box of dress up clothes that consisted of scraps of fabric and my mom's discarded clothes. Instead of a box of ratty old stuff, 4 year old "Mayhem" has a closet full of beautiful dresses made from, you guessed it, paper. This fun DIY venture began when Mayhem's mother Angie suggested her daughter begin using paper for her fashion creations as a way to save her own clothing from the little one's hands. In the past 9 months, this mother-daughter duo has come up with designs inspired by characters, red carpet gowns, Project Runway, and Mayhem's imagination. Just look at what they've done:

If you want more information about Mayhem and Angie, check out this article.
If you want to see their latest and greatest creations, head over to their Instagram or website.

Happy New York Fashion Week!

Even if you aren't the most fashion savvy, you've probably heard of the famed New York Fashion Week. Today officially begins the debut of the Spring 2014 designer collections. Like any girl who loves fashion, I would love to be there. Not only for the designs but for the fantastic people watching. Since I'm stuck in Boston for graduate school (not that I have tickets), I've decided to participate from afar.

Instead of checking power points, I'll be checking out the live stream

Class readings are going to take a backseat to the following fashion tales.

Clockwise from top:

In case that's not enough, I might have to re-watch the September Issue while flipping through all the September issues.

How will you celebrate Fashion Week?

Weekend Re-cap.

Does anyone else wish that there were more days in a week? Last week was terribly busy and my postings took a hit. Sincerest apologies. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Boston finally had some sunny days after a week of rain and it was wonderful. I spent most of the weekend doing what I love the most, organizing! I had offered Colin's mother to help clean out her basement and we finally tackled it this past Friday and Saturday. It was a lot of work and there's still more to do but I can't tell you how proud I am of it. I will be posting more about it later on this week along with some helpful tips. Colin and I spent most of our Sunday at the Cambridge Antique Market. It took us 2 hours to browse through the entire space and if we could have, we would have bought everything we saw! Four floors of antique furniture, art, clothing, glassware, etc. I can't wait to go back once we are settled in our new place for some extra accessories. Last but not least, we celebrated Peruvian Independence day with our friends and Pisco Sours. Yum!

Before heading up to New Hampshire to organize, I made sure to stop
for some caffeine (iced chai tea) & a little treat (lavender biscuit), courtesy of Three Little Figs

Before ...

After!

The Way Way Back was way way good.

My mother always made my family brunch on Sunday mornings, now I do it too!

This 80's designer dress was the perfect shade of vintage pink.

Oh hello, Salvatore Ferragamo Vara flats.
Too bad this 9 1/2 pair is way too big for my size 7 feet.

I've never been much for fur but this capelet was amazing, plus it had pockets.

Novelty salt and pepper shakers, can you spot the Beavers?

Pisco Sour to top off the weekend :)

Did you do anything special this weekend? Let me know, I love comments!

Happy (almost) 4th of July!

I don't know about you, but summer is my favorite time of the year. Some people may think it's because of my birthday (July 8) and they're somewhat right. Being a summer baby means that I love the sun, going to the beach, enjoying the occasional cold fruity drink (see previous post), enjoying the occasional cold cocktail, and presents. Most of all, I love the 4th of July. I may not have been born here but my heart belongs to America and there is nothing more American than this holiday - cue fireworks. I have had the pleasure of experiencing the 4th in many different settings. A few of my favorites include going to Bass Lake, CA as well as Manhattan Beach, CA. Unfortunately, this year, I will be back in my mother country. To cushion the blow for myself, I have made sure to pack as many red, white, and blue outfits as possible. To cushion the absence of blog posts for you, dear reader, I am leaving you with a few suggestions on how to fill up your time while I'm gone.

I am a few chapters away from finishing this book and I can barely put it down.

This one is already waiting on my kindle. It kept popping up on summer book lists and I can't wait to read it.

If you haven't been watching these videos, you are in for a spectacular treat. Nicole Richie is ha-larious. Also, there are some great one liners - "I need to stop thinking like a short girl, and start thinking like a drag queen". Episodes 4 & 5 are my favorites.

How to Marry a Millionaire
Thank you, Netflix. I love watching movies and I stumbled upon this oldie but goody the other day. It's silly but perfect when you're lounging around in your PJ's (and possibly curing an after the 4th hangover).

Let me know how you like them!
