Tonight, Why Don't You ...

Watch Candidly Nicole

A little over a year ago, I mentioned how much I was loving Candidly Nicole on AOL.com. I feel like the reality show gods answered my prayers and have made this hilarious web series into a a real show. Instead of 5 minutes of hilarious one liners, we now get a whole half hour. Candidly Nicole on VH1 premiers tonight. Below you can find a little sneak peak and if you missed out on the AOL series you can still watch those episodes here.

Happy watching!

This Weekend, Why Don't You ...

Check Out Poppytalk for Target

I don't love making this fact known, but I watch a lot of bad (or good, depending on how you see it) reality TV. A few years ago, one of my favorites coined the phrase "Glamping" aka Glamorous Camping. Glamping is exactly what Poppytalk has done for Target with their new line of camping gear. I have to admit, I hadn't heard about Poppytalk until now but I'm already hooked on their amazing blog. Target was already a huge love of mine but as their collaborations get better and better the love has grown into a little bit of an obsession. Check out some of the gear below and then go plan a camping trip or just pitch a tent in the backyard! I promise you'll want a reason to buy this stuff.

With Love, Kris

This Weekend, Why Don't You ...

Plan a reunion with your best buds!

Despite the fact that most of us are sprinkled across the country, I have been lucky enough to keep up with almost all of my college friends. A few weeks ago, my friend Lana reached out to myself and a couple others with the idea of planning a reunion. This little idea was all we needed to get the ball rolling. First up, the date. Labor Day weekend. Second, the location. After a little back and forth, Nashville. Accommodations? We're very into Airbnb. Now all we need to do is pull the trigger on flights! I realize taking a plane ride anywhere might not be the easiest thing to do but the point is, it's all about making an effort. My girlfriends are pretty great at sending texts every so often to give encouragement or just to say "this made me think of you." We've also done our fair share of setting up phone dates (an issue when dealing with opposite coasts) and conference calls (middle-school three-way calling style). On the rare a occasion, old-school snail mail pops up and that's great too. However you decide to do it, use the long weekend as an opportunity to reach out to those that mean the most. And then go enjoy your extra day off :)

We're coming for you, Nashville!

This Weekend, Why Don't You ...

Learn What OT Is

I realize that while I have shared a little about graduate school, I have not actually stopped to explain what I am studying. By this time next year, I hope to be a registered and licensed Occupational Therapist. What does OT do? Well, we do a lot and while I know I need to work on my "elevator speech," I found this video that sums it up nicely.

Happy Friday!

This Weekend, Why Don't You ...

Celebrate National Margarita Day!

I just found out about this (thank you, Vmac + Cheese) and I strongly support it. Mexican cuisine ranks high on my list, so naturally margaritas are right up there too. Lately, I have been experimenting with blood orange flavored everything. So far my favorite (and very easy concoction) has been tequila with San Pelligrino Aranciata Rossa. Oh, my yum. Since National Margarita Day should probably be shared with friends, here is a recipe that will make a pitcher of Blood Orange Margaritas. Now who wants to come over and share said pitcher with me?

PS. If you are in the Boston area, I highly suggest you make your way to the
Painted Burro in Somerville and order their cucumber margarita. It is the bomb.

This Weekend, Why Don't You ...

Make Mulled Wine

All this snow is making me want to stay inside, watch movies, and drink something warm. While tea and coffee are very good choices, wine is my buddy. I have tried many a wine (I did live less than an hour away from wine country for most of my life) but not until this December did I try mulled wine. What a delicious surprise! As with most new culinary adventures, I depend on my good friend Ina Garten to guide me. Her mulled wine recipe was very easy and perfect for these cold temperatures.

Mulled wine makings - doesn't it look pretty?

Happy Friday!
PS. Don't forget to watch the Olympics Opening Ceremony tonight!

This Weekend, Why Don't You ...

Watch, Diana Vreeland: They Eye Has to Travel

I watched this documentary over the holidays and I keep thinking about it. Before there was Anna Wintour, there was Diana "Empress of Fashion." I have to be honest, I didn't know too much about her before watching the film but was completely intrigued the entire time. The word fashion may put some people off but this was a woman who made a name for herself at a time when women were not expected to do more than stay at home and raise a family. Not only was she intelligent but she used her influence to completely change the way others saw fashion, art, beauty, and publishing. While the film celebrates Diana, it in no way sugarcoats her faults. If you have some free time, I would highly recommend checking it out (available now on Netflix).

Happy Friday!
