Month Recap.

Have I mentioned how much I love California? I promise that I do love New England, but California is my old faithful. I am lucky to have grown up in near San Francisco and to have gone to college in Los Angeles, and experience the best of two totally different worlds... In case you haven't heard, the north and south of California have a little rivalry going on. I try not to be biased but sometimes it's hard! For example, I am currently pulled in the direction of Los Angeles due to my recent trip out there. It was the most beautiful weekend weather wise plus I attended the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. Champagne and Polo players, can it get any better? It can. LA is also home to some of my best friends and some of the best Mexican food ever! It made for one happy girl.

I'd like to say I ate less than half but then I'd be lying to you.

So to recap, champagne + sunshine + friends + mexican food = happy Kristtyn.

Month Recap.

It has been a crazy start to my second and last year of grad school. As much as I love school and Boston, I do miss my California home. A few weeks ago I got the chance to go home and surprise my family. It was way too short but I loved every moment of it, especially getting to see my cousins. Being the eldest of the bunch, it's always fun to see how much everyone is changing and growing. I am close to all my cousins but I have to say I just love my girls. Even though we're family and have grown up together, we could not be more different. This is especially evident in the way we dress. It's been said before, but what you put on your body is so much more than fabric. It's a reflection of who you are and who you want to be in that moment. I thought it would be fun to share a few snap shots of my beautiful cousins showing off their personal style.

All of us together.

Aryana. She is a true chameleon. Whether its changing her hair color or her style, she has fun trying out different looks. I love that she topped off her simple dress with these amazing ankle strapped heels.

Stephanie. This girl never passes up an opportunity to be glam. Her beautiful skin color makes her a great canvas for a wide range of colors, hello shoes & lips! If I could have, I would have stolen this LBD (shhh).

Karina. I don't get to see her often (she's a Texan now) but when I do I am reminded of her sweet disposition which comes out in her style. This flowy top was made extra special by these delicate details.

Alexis. She's my bad a** chick. What I love about her is that although she exudes toughness, she manages to balance her look by adding feminine touches. Also, she has the best eyes in the family.

* I just want to give a big thank you to my uncle for providing us with a great opportunity to get together. You should definitely do this every year! I couldn't resist adding a few more photos, so enjoy!

Almost (almost) all of my cousins.

Happy almost friday!

Tomorrow I am off to Burlington, VT for the annual Vermont Brewers Festival. It has been a little over a year since I moved to Boston (adjacent, aka Somerville) and still have not been to Vermont. This is almost ridiculous since my roommate (Colin) went to Champlain College and speaks very fondly of his college town. Well, the wait is over. Even though I'm not a huge beer drinker I'm excited to try everything and to do it while enjoying a view of beautiful Lake Champlain. With any trip, this means I need to pack accordingly. Here is what I'll be wearing while I learn about craft beer:

I found this light weight dress at Target the other day.
The print is fun and the airiness will be perfect under the sun.
Speaking of sun, I will definitely be packing my Panama hat

Oh, Sam Edelman, how I love you so.
I own these Gigi sandals in 4 different colors, obsessed much?
*I just know that Patty is rolling her eyes and asking herself where my wedges are.

To help keep my hands free for all the beer and snacks, I will be wearing my Tory Burch Robinson Mini. I debated for a while before buying this guy at the beginning of summer but I am so glad I did.
It is the perfect size and it goes with everything.

I discovered Gorjana jewelry a few years ago while working at a boutique in my hometown. I love their stuff. I wish I had this little wrap bracelet to wear.

Last but not least, I would not be my mother's child if I didn't have at least a little bling on. This necklace, also Gorjana, would be excellent. I have a similar one that I will be wearing.

I'll make sure to take pictures to share! Enjoy your Thursday.

SoWa Open Market.

Usually my Sundays are reserved for brunch but yesterday I decided to switch it up. I have been to my fair share of farmer's markets but nothing compares to Boston's SoWa Market. The market starts up in May and is open until October. Split up into four sections, it offers something for everyone. You can begin the day by checking out the Art's Market, where local artists sell everything from paintings to glassware. For lunch, head over to the Food Trucks for any and every craving you may have. If you need to walk off lunch, do so at the indoor Vintage Market (open all year and my favorite part of the market). Last but not least, hit up the Farmer's Market for fresh produce and locally made salsa's, maple syrups, pastries, etc. On your own or with friends, you can easily spend your entire Sunday here.

Begin your day with a caffeine kick from this guy.

Vintage scale with a sweet note.

Loved all the vintage glassware for the bar cart I'm going to have in our new apartment.

Angel wings, taking me back to my sorority days.

Heading into the food truck area for lunch. So many choices!

The Lavender Lemonade is refreshing and delicious.

Meghan settled on a lobster roll from Lobsta Love.

My California self went directly to the Baja Taco Truck for a delicious burrito.

Our last stop was at Cupcake City. Katie is doing her best Vanna White.

Date Night.

A few months ago my friend, Erica, and I had a dinner date at Puritan & Company (Cambridge, MA). It was the perfect night for two girlfriends. The decor is beautiful and elegant, yet not at all stuffy. We had dinner up at the bar, enjoyed good wine, and participated in a little impromptu beer tasting. It was so great that when my boyfriend said I could pick the location for our date night on friday, there was no other choice. Once again, Puritan & Co. delivered. This place hasn't been around that long but it is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Smoked Bluefish Pate
(we also ordered the Chicken Fried Quail to start but it was gone before I could even grab my camera!)

Don't forget to save room for dessert!

6.24.13

Last weekend may not have had the best start but what a great end! After eating a few bowls of the emergency soup I whipped up, my boyfriend was feeling well enough to attempt a relaxing beach day. Since our bags were already packed (in anticipation of the Vermont trip that never was), we were able to jump in the car on Sunday morning and head to our favorite spot. My boyfriend's family has a little fish house right on the beach in North Hampton, NH. We laid out, walked along the beach, picked up some sea glass, and got fresh lobster rolls from the local snack shack. To top it off we had an impromptu cook out with my boyfriend's brother and mom. How did you celebrate the first weekend of summer?

Wearing: Nine West blouse (found at TJ Maxx), American Eagle shorts (old)

Now that I'm in my mid-twenties, I've decided to get serious about skin care so a Panama hat is a beach must.

Spotted some fishermen on our walk, doesn't this just scream New England?

Lobster. Roll.

Some day I'm going to own one of these bad boys.

Beautiful day.

P.S. If you ever find yourself in North Hampton, NH, make sure to check out the Fuller Gardens. Tucked away, this beautiful oasis is one of my favorite places to visit.
